My heart speaks louder.

Hello you😉.

Its common place to hear this – “actions speak louder than words” but is it really true? To a large extent i believe it is. People say “talk is cheap” because many times we say things and make promises that we never mean to fulfil in a zillion years to come, but still we say them. So everyone would prefer a person that doesn’t just talk the talk but also walks the walk, but i was thinking a few days ago (as i often do, thinking is one of my hobbies 😊) does this stand true with God, do our actions hold more water with God? Or is there something else He’d rather see.

The first thing is, our heavenly Father has thought processes that would confound the wisest of us if we could only but peep into his heart. He says of himeself;

My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
    “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
    so my ways are higher than your ways
    and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9

Let’s try and paint a picture here, do you have any idea at all how high the heavens are above the earth? In searching to answer this question, i saw somewhere that the heavens are approximately 46 billion light years higher! Does that make much sense to you? No? Then you get my point. His ways are FAAAARRRRRRRRR, VERY FARRRRRRR from ours. My point in all these is to get us to the same conclusion that God doesn’t interprete things as we do, simple.

So back to my thoughts of the other day (just yesterday actually), are actions actually louder with God? What do you think? Yes? No? I think its a NO. With God, the heart speaks louder. See what the bible says;

You may think everything you do is right, but the Lord judges your motives.
Proverbs 16:2 (Good news translation)

So even when you’ve taken all the right steps, He looks beyound that to the heart of the matter, what’s in your heart?

On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts. 1Thessalonians 2:4 (NIV)

And finally,

He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God. 1 corinthians 4:5 (NIV)

So, here I am thinking to myself, so my heart actually speaks louder to God. So when I’m in worship and I’m lifting my voice to the high heavens but my heart is silently thinking about how the voice of the worship leader isn’t too nice, or how i can’t wait to get home, or the next meal I’d eat or maybe I’m thinking about how that friend hurt me, I  must remember that it doesn’t matter how good my voice is/ isn’t, or if i’m on my knees, or even rolling on the floor, if my hearts isn’t with me in the worship then I’m not worshiping.

When i’m putting all effort into the service of God, and everyone thinks i’m so in sync with Jesus, but in my heart I’m doing it all for show, or maybe just because I have to, while wishing in my heart that i didn’t have to serve, or sacrifice so much, then i must remember that if my service isn’t from my heart, then it doesn’t touch God’s heart.

Dear one, as much as God wants your worship, your fellowship and your service, he wants your heart first. Your heart speaks louder.

  1. 😁😁very lovely and it’s something I keep reminding myself. And the verse I’ve been holding on to about this is Isaiah 29:13
