Bubble wrap…

Someone passed something to me today wrapped in a bubble wrap (if you don’t know what that is, the picture above is for your benefit😊) and i got excited! Not because of what was wrapped within but because of the bubble wrap itself! All i could think of was pressing the tiny bubbles between my fingers and listening to it make that pop sound as it burst. To me it was just a thrill to still find something so silly and childish as amusing and exciting. (I’m still excited just thinking about it😆).

So what’s the lesson to learn from the bubble wrap? That we should go around looking for bubbles to burst?  Hmm… That might be fun, but that isn’t my point at all.

As I burst those bubbles and my face lit up in excitement i saw the child in me; the one that still loves to watch the moon, the one that still cries over cartoons, the one that still marvels over rain drops and always has a thousand and one questions to ask about anything new. I love that child, that child that still has a sense of wonder and can be awed by the slightest silliest things. I love that even as an adult i can still be child-like and enjoy simple things.

But I realise that we don’t all have this child-likeness. As we grow up, we allow the hustle in life to wean us of our childhood, too many of us have become so hardened we can hardly be awed, we’ve lost our sense of wonder. As i thought about this i felt sad, i can’t imagine living that life. Because life can get so tough sometimes and the only things to make you smile are really those ‘childish nonsense’ that made you giggle as a child. Life is beautiful to those that can see. I don’t think it was a mistake that Jesus said this;

“I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless you repent[that is, change your inner self—your old way of thinking, live changed lives] and become like children [trusting, humble, and forgiving], you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Mathew 18:3 (amplified)

Yes, there’s alot more to that verse, but for today my point is this, there are so many amazing characteristics reflected in the innocence of a child’s eyes, and as much as we grow up and ‘life’ tries to rob us of these things, i want to plead with you, don’t lose that child in you and don’t let experiences kill that child too.

So step out for a bit tonight and admire the night’s sky and remember the days when you sang “twinkle twinkle little star.…. ” and I’m going to keep bursting bubble wraps any oppurtunity i get!

P-s: JESUS RULES#😊 see you friday!
