Something struck me…

The trajectory of life naturally gravitates towards destruction, to head elswhere would require an extra effort…

 

So I read through Mathew 7:15 some days back and I couldn’t help but linger over it for sometime.  Jesus speaking said;

¹³ “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad and easy to travel is the path that leads the way to destruction and eternal loss, and there are many who enter through it. ¹⁴ But small is the gate and narrow and difficult to travel is the path that leads the way to [everlasting] life, and there are few who find it.

I’d  like you to read that again slowly. Let it sink in.

Now, lets do some comparing and contrasting.
1. A small gate vs a wide gate
2. A narrow and difficult path vs a broad and easy path
3. Everlasting life vs destruction
4. Enter through it vs find it

The last contrast strikes me, gets me thinking, makes me ponder.
A large multitude enters through the gate that leads to the broad easy path but only few find the path to life. It appears to me that little effort is needed to head on the path to destruction, all you need do is….well, just enter, its wide open! But the path to eternal life must be found and for a thing to be found it must be sought.

I guess the reason why only few find the narrow path is because only few seek it. I think this goes for alot of other things in the ‘christian race’. We dont seek things out (me inclusive) its just so much sweeter to have things already-made. No stress no hassel.

Now its my challenge, (would you make it yours too?) To seek out the path to life and never stop seeking till I get to my destination. Its easy to get comfortable and even lazy as a believer. Life gets in the way, so much to do so little time. But to stop seeking is to lose ‘the Way’ and inadvertetly drift in the direction of the broad and easy path.

If you want to find God, then you must seek. And His Word is a great place to start.

13 Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
